Steven C. Lambert

Steven C. Lambert is the General Counsel at the General Council on Finance and Administration of The United Methodist Church. In this role, he oversees the Legal Services Department (among others) assisting GCFA in meeting its responsibilities under the Book of Discipline to safeguard the assets of the United Methodist Church connection. Prior to coming to GCFA in 2014, Steve was in private practice in Washington, D.C., ending his career as a Partner with Foley & Lardner. He served his firm as Chair of its Finance Committee, Vice-Chair of its pro bono program, and as Training Partner for the firm’s Litigation Department.

Over the years, Steve has served in a number of positions in his local church and with the Virginia Annual Conference, including being President of its Pensions Board. He also served as Chair of the Board of Ferrum College, a United Methodist-related school in Southwest Virginia. More recently, Steve served for 12 years on the Board of Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. – the last seven years as the Board Chair.

Steve went to Duke University for his undergraduate education, and then received his J.D. degree from Georgetown University Law Center.
