The principal responsibility of the General Counsel's office is to protect the legal interests of The United Methodist denomination. Ongoing activities include managing litigation, consulting with bishops, district superintendents, annual conference treasurers, chancellors and general agencies, and presenting seminars and training on legal issues. In addition, staff serves as a key resource on questions regarding The Book of Discipline.
