Nashville, TN – The Board of Directors of the General Council on Finance and Administration held its fourth quarter board meeting at Providence United Methodist Church in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee November 15-16.

The Board continues its work in accomplishing the tasks assigned to it by the Book of Discipline relating to the proposed general Church budget for 2021-2024. In this regard, it made tentative decisions on allocations necessary for the Episcopal Fund, the General Administration Fund, and certain Fixed Charges. These totaled approximately $137.1 million. Per existing assumptions, this leaves approximately $361.6 million for initial allocation to five general Church funds which are World Service, Africa University, Interdenominational Cooperation, Black College, and Ministerial Education Funds. The Board will continue its discussions with others as the development of the budget progresses and will revisit its actions in the spring of 2019 after updated economic data is available and actions of the Special Session of the General Conference are known.

The Board also approved the 2019 annual spending plans for a number of the general Church agencies and organizations.

The Board approved the certification of thirty-six people who completed the online certification class for the Professional Administrators of the United Methodist Connectional Structure (PAUMCS). The first Advanced Certification Class since 2003 was held and twenty-eight people completed their requirements and were approved by the Board.
