Educational Opportunities Travel Dimensions

Christmas is soon upon us. The staff at Educational Opportunities Tours is usually getting ready for a busy start to the new year - especially in the Holy Land. This year is very different. Very few guests have visited the land of Jesus and the Bible; it has been months since any of our staff – even our president James Ridgway – have been to Jerusalem, Bethlehem, and Tiberias to see our friends and co-workers.

The change in travel has caused Educational Opportunities to look at the dimensions of travel in a new light. We are focusing on many other destinations where we deliver Christian journeys that inspire faith, enhance the Bible, and strengthen our Christian walk. Our staff is helping Hosts/Group Leaders understand that there are many other Christian travel experiences that will reinforce their disciple-making ministries. There are more dimensions to Christian travel than the Holy Land.

A large part of the Bible takes place outside of the Holy Land. Amazing sites in Greece, Turkiye, Egypt, Jordan, and Italy are accessible to travelers today. Seeing these Biblical sites enlightens our knowledge of the Bible and faith greatly. Learning about leaders that shaped the Church through the centuries is another dimension of Christian travel that expands views and practices. EO’s Church heritage tours in England, Ireland, Scotland, Germany, and Italy help travelers bring little known people and sites to life. Next year, we will add a new dimension to one of our Church Heritage tours by exploring some of the Christmas markets in England and John Wesley’s heritage on the same itinerary - our Christmas Markets in England journey.

All Christian travel is an effective and distinct dimension of disciple-making ministries. A journey to a far-off land brings a perspective that you can’t get by reading, hearing a teacher or preacher, or even seeing a video. Traveling with a group of people you may know a lot or a little, builds relationships in new and unique ways. Coming home excited about what has been experienced often energizes people for action in their ministry and personal Christian walk.

EO Tours wishes you a blessed Christmas season. As you start the new year, we hope you will be effective disciple-makers – as we are all called to be. We hope you will incorporate Christian travel as recurring dimension of your ministry in the future.
