GCFA Board Approves Bishop Salary Increase and Policy Updates on Episcopal Lodging, Audits, and Personnel Policies

Nashville, Tenn. — The General Council on Finance and Administration’s Board of Directors has approved policy updates pertaining to the Council of Bishops Lodging Costs, Audits, and Agency Personnel Policies.
Support for Bishops Serving Multiple Episcopal Areas
Responding to the practical demands on bishops assigned to serve multiple episcopal areas, the Board approved updates to the lodging reimbursement policy under the Council of Bishops’ area travel provisions. These changes reflect the evolving demands on episcopal leadership and offer clear guidelines for equitable financial support.
Episcopal Office Audit Policy Update
The GCFA Board also approved a revision to the Episcopal Office Audit Policy within the Episcopal Fund Policy and Procedure Manual. The updated policy aligns official language with long-standing administrative practice.
Personnel Policy Updates for Clarity and Compliance
Upon recommendation from the Committee on Personnel Policies and Practices (CPPP), the Board approved edits to three policies. These edits were corrections intended to align with current benefits plan documents and simplify communications. No changes were made to the substance of the policies.

Salary Increase for Bishops
The GCFA Board of Directors revisited the topic of bishops' salaries. After extensive deliberation, during which Bishop Graves and Bishop Bickerton who serve on the Board recused themselves, the Board ultimately voted to approve a 3% salary increase for bishops, retroactive to January 1, 2025.
