About UMIP:
The United Methodist Insurance Program (UMIP) has its roots in the Book of Discipline (2016 ¶ 807.23). Since 1976, the General Council on Finance and Administration (GCFA) has fulfilled its obligation in several forms. UMIP now operates using an independent, endorsed, agent Sovereign Insurance Group (Sovereign).
This structure enables us to access more than 30 carriers to get the best coverage and price that we can. Placing coverage with commercial carriers also means that the Church’s assets are not at risk due to underwriting exposure.
Sovereign’s experience in the church and non-profit segment means that we can cover any part of the United Methodist Connection in any part of the United States. We also offer articles and resources to help you get a better understanding of your insurance needs and to take steps to reduce the likelihood of accidents, injuries, and loss to property and finances.
