United Methodist Insurance Elects New President and Chief Operating Officer

Nashville, TN –  The Board of Directors for United Methodist Insurance (UMI), the insurance company for the denomination’s local churches, is announcing the election of Rev. Dr. Stephen Hundley as President and Chief Executive Officer and Mike Plesko as Chief Operating Officer, effective June 1, 2016. 

Plesko is the president of Plesko Consulting, specializing in advisory roles to organizations about their insurance products and needs. He received his B.A. from Loyola University – Chicago, and his MBA from the University of Chicago.  He is a certified casualty underwriter and financial consultant.  Mike is a published author in the field of insurance and is a very active member of his local church.  

Hundley, an Elder in The United Methodist Church, has most recently served as the Executive Director of Connectional Ministries in the California-Pacific Annual Conference.  He has served as a District Superintendent in the Virginia Conference and as a pastor of local churches in his home conference of Virginia.

Steve has been active interpreting the financial life of the Church and has specialized in promoting generosity and connectional giving. His role with UMI will be to help churches recognize the stewardship of adequate insurance coverage that protects United Methodist properties and people.
